Well 2012 came, went and we all didn't die in the Mayan Apocalypse. Shame really as I'm now lumped with 90% shares in the Comet chain :(
2012 wasn't a vintage year for hobby content from me, mainly down to motivation etc. Here's to hoping 2013 will end up with more hobby stuffs being done!
Christmas day was a busy day...
As to models I've started to finish off projects as opposed to starting fresh new ones. (Honest!). Reading John-Paul's mini preview of what is in store next year I have my hopes set on a Barbarossa book for early war Eastern Front; between now and then I'm hoping to concentrate on painting what I have and picking up a load of terrain to supplement what I currently have in my collection (more on this in the next post!).
In the mean time I'm content with what I have already (for once).
So 60% done on the first Sapper Kompany. It's a lot of little Russians. (a lot!).
Santa was ever so kind to me in 2012, but my wallet has felt the effects of me trying to stop the global economic turn down single handedly. Wifey wasn't overly impressed when £193 worth of FoW stuff I drunkenly ordered from Stafford Games pitched up; especially as I have just recieved a Dark Eldar army for Christmas (which I may well have said I didn't want after all). I will never learn!
New FoW goodness, mainly inspired by Band of Brothers and the recent NUTS! book from Battlefront. My eldest son also received Open Fire for his Christmas (I am a sneaky git :) ) so should have some support from him, failing his interest in the hobby I'll have a load of plastic FoW stuff to play with too!
But it's not all going to be 15mm this year, 28mm Bolt Action minis are also on the desk. I currently have about 750pts of German SS (and the same in Russians on the way too).
German SS Panzer Grenadiers. Yesterday.
My wee baby Hetzer, hetzing away (is that a real word?)
The joys of our hobby; watching TV whilst superglue sets and bonds me to myself. It never fails to amuse my kids when dad is glued to himself.
With this post I claim my first New Years resolution: weekly posts on here.
Resolution #2 is to achieve more in my hobby this year without getting sucked in to more projects.
Resolution #3 is to game more this year: Flames of War, Bolt Action and also some Dystopian Wars too.
Wish me luck!

Sounds good lots of great things going on, Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteGood to see you back up and running! I used to check your blog randomly until eventually I thought that the gestapo had caught up with you and I would never see you again. That or the amount of Russians that you had to paint drove you insane. Looking forward to more content and good luck
